Sorellanza Sisters in Song Tour - Ireland

April 22 - 28, 2027

Itinerary

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Thursday April 22: Overnight Flight

After a rehearsal at the airport hotel you will prepare to depart from the United States.

Day 2, Friday April 23: Galway

Céad Míle Fáilte! Arrive this morning in Shannon, Ireland, meet your tour manager and coach driver and begin your journey through the Emerald Isle with a scenic drive to Galway, taking in your first views of Ireland’s majestic countryside. Along the way, visit Clonmacnoise, founded by St. Ciarán in the mid-6th century on the eastern bank of the River Shannon. This remarkable monastic site features the ruins of a cathedral, seven churches dating from the 10th to 13th centuries, two round towers, three high crosses, and the largest collection of Early Christian graveslabs in Western Europe. Highlights from the site, including original high crosses and select graveslabs, are on display in the visitor center. Dinner together this evening. (B,D)

Day 3, Saturday April 24: Galway

Today, journey through the stunning Connemara region, a land of lakes and rivers, bogs and mountains, where small villages still speak Gaelic and the landscape seems little changed since the dawn of time. Visit Glengowla, a working sheep farm tended by the Geoghegan family for generations, where the sheepdogs are an essential part of farm life. Continue to Kylemore Abbey, where the Benedictine Community established a world-renowned boarding school for girls and carefully restored the Abbey, Gothic Church, and Victorian Walled Garden to their former glory. Here, you may have your first informal impromptu performance in the Abbey (pending approval), surrounded by breathtaking architecture and history. This afternoon, return to Galway to soak in the lively atmosphere of the city, followed by a relaxing dinner on your own at a local pub. (B,)

Day 4, Sunday April 25: Killarney

Travel through the Burren, a striking limestone landscape home to unique flora, including 20 species of wild orchids. Visit the Cliffs of Moher, one of Ireland’s most iconic sights, with paved pathways offering breathtaking views over the Atlantic Ocean and the Aran Islands. Arrive in Kilkenny, check into your hotel and relax after a long day. B

Day 5, Monday April 26: Kilkenny

Visit the Kilkenny Castle. The Kilkenny Castle has been an important site since Strongbow constructed the first building a wooden tower in the 12th century. William the Earl Marshall built the first stone castle on the site in 1260. Later prepare for your first concert at St. Canice Cathedral or similar. Dinner and overnight accommodations follow at the Kilkenny River Court Hotel or a similar hotel in Kilkenny town center. (B,D)

Day 6, Tuesday April 27: Dublin

Today travel to Dublin, you will explore the legendary Book of Kells with its new immersive digital experience at Trinity College Library, bringing to life the exquisite Latin texts of the four Gospels, carefully decorated by Irish monks around the year 800 AD. Please note that the Old Library at Trinity College is currently undergoing restoration and closed to the public. Afterward, enjoy a visit to Christ Church Cathedral, where a lunchtime concert is planned (subject to confirmation). The day concludes with a lively dinner at the Merry Plough Boys, featuring traditional Celtic music, song and dance.

Day 7, Wednesday April 28: Departure

Transfer to the airport for return flight to the United States. (B)
