Concert Tour of Central Europe

July 13 - 19, 2020

Itinerary

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Monday July 13: Overnight Flight

Departure from the United States.

Day 2, Tuesday July 14: Prague

Welcome to Prague! Upon arrival, you will meet your Encore Tour Manager and transfer to your centrally located hotel. This afternoon, enjoy a walking orientation with your Tour Manager before having a welcome dinner together tonight. (D)

Day 3, Wednesday July 15: Prague

Start your day with a guided sightseeing tour of this charming and architecturally significant city, one of the few major European cities spared from World War II bombing. View the picturesque Malá Strana (or “Lesser Quarter” neighborhood, named for its location at the foot of Prague's ancient castle) and the 14th century Charles Bridge. Often lined with street vendors and musicians, the bridge connects the Malá Strana to historic Old Town Prague. This afternoon, rehearse for today's debut concert performance; venue options include St. Nicholas Church on the Old Town Square. Enjoy dinner together in a local restaurant together. (B,D)

Day 4, Thursday July 16: Prague

This morning, enjoy an excursion to the charming Bohemian town of Ceský Krumlov, one of the most picturesque towns in Europe. Have time for lunch on your own, followed by a sightseeing tour with a local guide. Enjoy dinner together at a local restaurant, then return to Prague for your overnight. (B,D)

Day 5, Friday July 17: Prague

Travel to the Baroque gem of Dresden in the morning. You'll witness how the entirely reconstructed buildings rose from the ashes of WWII destruction during a guided sightseeing tour viewing the city's highlights. This afternoon, rehearse for your next concert performance; venue options incude the Loschwitz Kirche! Enjoy dinner together then return to Prague. (B,D)

Day 6, Saturday July 18: Prague

This morning, take an excursion to visit Terezín (or Theresienstadt). This former ghetto and Nazi transit camp is now a pretty Czech town once again, and traces of its former existence are limited to two compelling museums, a crematorium, and a field of remembrance. Here a possible recital performance may be possible. Return to Prague in the late afternoon, where you will rehearse and perform your final concert of the tour at St. Martin in the Wall Church (pending approval)! Celebrate your successful performance tour abroad with a farewell dinner cruise along the Vltava River. (B,D)

Day 7, Sunday July 19: Departure

Transfer to the airport for return flight to the United States. (B)
