Itinerary

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Monday July 26: Overnight Flight

Depart from the USA.

Day 2, Tuesday July 27: Cape Town

Arrive on the Cape of Good Hope, a place whose hospitality has earned it the name the Tavern of the Seas. (D)

Day 3, Wednesday July 28: Cape Town

Begin exploring with a full day tour of the Cape Peninsula. Enjoy a scenic drive along the Atlantic coast with views of the Twelve Apostles, part of the Table Mountain range. Continue to the village of Hout Bay. After a short boat trip to Duiker Island to view the Cape Fur Seals, visit the World of Birds wildlife sanctuary. Travel next to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, comprising over 17,300 acres of indigenous fauna and flora. Return to Cape Town by way of the Simon's Town naval base. (B,D)

Day 4, Thursday July 29: Cape Town

Today's full day tour begins at Kloof Nek. Ascend Table Mountain by revolving cable car to see the famous silver tree and marvel at the views below. Continue to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront and board the ferry to Robben Island. This island is famous for having been the prison of former South African president Nelson Mandela. Finish your day at the Two Oceans Aquarium, where you can view more than 3,000 animals. (B,D)

Day 5, Friday July 30: Cape Town

Today is free to leisurely explore Cape Town on your own. Spend time visiting the Cultural History Museum and National Gallery or hunting for bargains in the flea markets. (B,D)

Day 6, Saturday July 31: Sun City

Fly to Johannesburg this morning and travel to Soweto for a tour. Visit the Mandela Museum, see Desmond Tutu's home and explore Soweto's many facets, including a traditional medicine merchants stall, a typical four-roomed dwelling, and a shebeen. Continue to Sun City Resort for the night. (B,D)

Day 7, Sunday August 1: Sun City

Enjoy a free day at the incomparable Sun City Resort. World famous for its opulence, it boasts a number of activities including a water park, health spa, botanical garden, and safari park. (B,D)

Day 8, Monday August 2: Johannesburg

Begin the day at Lesedi Cultural Village for a show, tour and lunch, then travel on to Johannesburg. See the colorful huts of the Ndebele adjacent to those of other tribes and watch a Zulu warrior dance. Dinner this evening is a sampling of exotic African dishes, including crocodile! (B,L,D)

Day 9, Tuesday August 3: Kruger National Park

Journey to Kruger National Park today. Enter a world of suspended timber walkways threading through indigenous forests. (B,D)

Day 10, Wednesday August 4: Kruger National Park

Enjoy a full day of open vehicle game viewing in search of the Big Five;lion, elephant, leopard, buffalo and rhino while enjoying the flora and fauna within the park. Return to your hotel for dinner and a night's rest. (B,D)

Day 11, Thursday August 5: Overnight Flight

Spend your last morning in Kruger National Park before driving to Johannesburg for an overnight flight to the USA. (B)

Day 12, Friday August 6: United States

Arrive back to the USA.
