Dominican Tournament

August 1 - 8, 2022

Itinerary

The itinerary is the starting point to your tour, but it’s not set in stone. Your group leader may make changes leading up to departure.

Day 1, Monday August 1: Santo Domingo

Depart the USA and arrive in the Dominican Republic where you will meet your tour manager who will be with you for the duration of your trip. Head to your hotel for check-in then enjoy an orientation tour before dinner. (D)

Day 2, Tuesday August 2: Santo Domingo

Today begins the Dominican Games. This is a 2-day, multi-sport event for high school aged athletes Competition begins today with games 1, 2 and 3. Later this afternoon return to Santo Domingo and take a Chu-Chu colonial historical train tour through the Colonial Zone, a UNESCO World Cultural Site and the historic central area of Santo Domingo. See the Cathedral of Santa Maria la Menor, thought to be the first cathedral of the Americas, the Ozama Fortress overlooking the river, the Franciscan Monastery ruins and other historic sites.Please note: International gateways, dates of games, excursions and overnight cities are subject to change. Day 3, Wednesday August 3: Santo Domingo

Todays tournament games will continue with finals. After games 4, 5 and 6 being played the closing ceremony will take place with all sports will coming together. (B,D)

Day 4, Thursday August 4: Santiago

Travel to Imbert for some adrenaline pumping 'cascading' down the 27 waterfalls of Damajagua! After time for lunch, transfer to Santiago for check in and dinner. (B,L,D)

Day 5, Friday August 5: Sosua

After breakfast this morning you will have the opportunity to take surf lessons. Then after lunch discover the local marine life first-hand as you enjoy snorkeling with colorful tropical fish around the reefs in Sosua Bay. (B,L,D)

Day 6, Saturday August 6: Sosua

This morning you will attend a leadership workshop at the Dominican Republic Education And Mentoring Project (DREAM). DREAM grew from the vision of a group of Dartmouth students looking to make a difference in 1995, and was formally established as a 501(c) nonprofit in 2002. DREAM currently staffs more than 40 Dominicans, four expatriates and numerous volunteers from across the globe, all working together to change the lives of over 6,000 children a year. During this workshop you will see how the project came together and learn what it takes for a female leader to be successful in this field. Later this afternoon you will have free time to explore Sosua Beach on your own. (B,L,D)

Day 7, Sunday August 7: Sosua

This morning enjoy a fantastic ziplining excursion, followed by a well earned beach afternoon at your resort hotel. This evening enjoy a river cruise along La Boca River followed by a beach barbeque party. (B,D)

Day 8, Monday August 8: Departure

Depart for the USA. (B)
