  • Meet Your Group Leaders, Ann and Sandi: Hi, I’m Ann Thiermann, MFA, your Group Leader for Bell’Italia. www.annthiermann.com. Enjoy my cultural and natural history murals, landscapes, and figurative work.   I continue to enjoy the artistic dialogue with college art students, teaching drawing, figure and landscape for 30 years. My travel-teaching workshops include Italy, France, Mexico, the Southwest and Utah. I’m thrilled to return to Italy in 2022 with ACIS. As Group Leader, I’ve lead ACIS trips to Costa Rica, Paris, and the Gardens of England and Wales. ACIS is an amazing organization which supports all aspects of making trips especially inviting, comfortable and educational for each participant.   Next summer, In addition to our ACIS Italian Tour Guide, I am delighted to be joined by Sandra Frank, Cabrillo College colleague and Photography educator extraordinaire as my co-group leader.  Sandra has had a long commercial career photographing for most of the major Silicon Valley tech companies as well as having her fine art photography shown throughout the country, Canada, England and Russia and in many permanent collections including the Polaroid Permanent Collection in New York. She has taught photography at San Jose State University and Cabrillo College for 19 years as well as numerous workshops in California, and New Mexico.  We each plan to weave unique fun photographic, sketching and journaling tips into our rich Italian itinerary. We invite you to join our Bell’Italia trip at any level of artistic development, or as history buffs enjoying the sites, sounds, smells and tastes of Italy.
